We are thrilled to share with you the remarkable journey of the African Peace and Security Annual Conference (APSACO). It all began six years ago during a discussion between Mr. Rachid El Houdaigui, Scientific Director of APSACO, and Karim El Aynaoui, Executive President of the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS). It was during this conversation that the idea of a conference focusing on peace and security in Africa was born.
But why was such a conference necessary? The answer lies in the need for a robust intellectual framework where African researchers and decision-makers could regularly exchange ideas and engage in discussions about the pressing issues surrounding peace and security on the continent.
Over the past seven years, APSACO has successfully brought together over 700 researchers, decision-makers, and members of civil society during its six previous editions. Each edition has centered around a specific theme, including the African Union in 2017, Peacekeeping Operations in 2018, Africa's Place and Influence in 2019, COVID-19 and Security in 2020, Women, Peace, and Security in 2021, and Africa security in times of uncertainties in 2022.
Now, as APSACO gears up for its 7th edition, we are thrilled to announce that more than 150 individuals will be joining us to address “Post-conflict reconstruction in Africa”. We have curated an impressive lineup of around 20 high-level international experts who will be sharing their knowledge and insights with us!
