We are thrilled to announce the panels and their intriguing topics, featuring high-level experts who will shed light on critical issues surrounding peace and security in Africa. In this edition, we explore the theme of post-conflict reconstruction and development in Africa. The continent has been actively working on establishing a policy framework, in line with the African Union Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) and the African Governance Architecture (AGA), to address the unique challenges of post-conflict situations. We highlight the adoption of the "AU Policy Framework on Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD)" and the role of the African Solidarity Initiative (ASI) in coordinating continental efforts.

In this panel, we will explore how the African concept of collective security can be improved, taking into account the current post-conflict situations in the continent. Experts will delve into strategies, frameworks, and innovative approaches that can enhance collective security efforts and foster sustainable peace.

The panelists will engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the reconciliation models that can be adopted to support and sustain emerging democratic structures. They will explore successful case studies and lessons learned, aiming to identify effective strategies for reconciliation and political reconstruction in post-conflict environments.

This panel will focus on promoting the reconstruction and stabilization of a legitimate and functional security framework operating under civilian control and supervision. Experts will analyze preventive security governance mechanisms, examine their impact on peacebuilding efforts, and highlight best practices from different regions of Africa.

Recognizing the vital role of women and youth in peacebuilding strategies, this panel aims to explore ways to promote their inclusion from the first steps. Panelists will discuss challenges, successes, and innovative approaches to empower women and youth, ensuring their active participation in shaping peaceful and inclusive societies.

Examining the financial aspects of post-conflict reconstruction, this panel will delve into enhancing traditional and alternative financing mechanisms for reconstruction programs. Experts will share insights on mobilizing resources, attracting investments, and creating sustainable funding models to overcome financial constraints and promote development.

This panel will explore the prospects for better synergy between the UN Peacebuilding Commission and the African Union on post-conflict reconstruction issues. Experts will discuss strategies to strengthen international institutional partnerships and explore the AU's various collaborations with regional and global actors in peacebuilding efforts.

Alongside the panels, we will have an engaging discussion on the 6th edition of our annual report that provides an overview of Africa's geopolitics. The report will highlight key regional dynamics, emerging challenges, and opportunities for peace and security. This discussion aims to foster a deeper understanding of the geopolitical landscape in Africa and inform future policy decisions.
