As the selection process for the 2026 Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program gets underway, we are pleased to share the latest publications, contributions, and professional updates from across the ADEL network.

ADEL Alumni Participation in the Atlantic Dialogues 2026

The Call for Interest is now open for ADEL alumni wishing to join the Atlantic Dialogues 2026 and potentially contribute to the ADEL Program, both taking place in Rabat this December.

The deadline to submit the form below is August 9, 2026.

ADEL 2025 Reports

This quarter saw the release of two publications developed through the 2025 edition of the Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program.

Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Report 2025

The Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Report 2025 provides an overview of the twelfth edition of the ADEL Program, held in Rabat from December 7 to 11, 2025. It highlights the discussions, activities, and key moments that shaped the program and captures the richness of the exchanges among the 2025 cohort.

Atlantic Vision 2025

Atlantic Vision 2025 is the outcome of the first ADEL 2025 workshop, “Build, Connect, Anticipate.”

Developed through the cohort’s exchanges during the workshop, the report brings together participants’ collective reflections and recommendations on the economic, political, and social challenges shaping the future of the Atlantic Basin.

Interviews

Imane Dahou (ADEL 2025) – "Cybersécurité, protection des données et souveraineté numérique au Maroc"

Imane Dahou discussed cybersecurity and data protection as central dimensions of digital sovereignty. She addressed the priorities involved in securing infrastructure, strengthening public trust, and supporting digital transformation through effective governance, resilience, and risk management.

Pauline Despis Pigozzo (ADEL 2025) – "Repenser le dialogue économique entre experts et citoyens"

Pauline Despis Pigozzo explored how economic debates can become more accessible and responsive to citizens. The conversation considered the role of digital tools, participatory spaces, and clearer public communication in strengthening trust and ensuring that economic policies better reflect people’s experiences and needs.

Maria Rotilu (ADEL 2025) "Fueling Africa’s Tech Talent: A New Playbook for Venture Capital and Founders"

Maria Rotilu discussed what it will take to sustain the growth of Africa’s technology ecosystem. She reflected on how venture capital can better respond to local realities and emphasized the importance of talent development, mentorship, and stronger collaboration across the ecosystem.

Podcasts 

Gabriela Keseberg Dávalos (ADEL 2013) discussed the 2026 United Nations Secretary-General election and the geopolitical dynamics shaping the selection process. The conversation examines how rising conflicts, shifting regional interests, and declining trust in multilateral institutions are raising the stakes surrounding the UN’s next leader.

Leadership Talks Series continued this quarter with two new episodes featuring members of the ADEL 2025 cohort.

Aude Darnal (ADEL 2025) reflected on how think tanks can better incorporate perspectives from the Global South. The episode considers the importance of locally grounded expertise, stronger representation in international policy debates, and the networks and communication strategies that can help a new generation of experts extend its reach.

Ruby Igwe (ADEL 2025) discussed how civic technology can support the preservation of cultural heritage, particularly in contexts affected by conflict, climate change, and rapid urban transformation. The episode looks at community-led digitization, ethical data ownership, and the partnerships needed to protect collective memory over the long term.

Publications

Mehran Haghirian (ADEL 2025) – “The Global Costs of Disruption in the Strait of Hormuz”


In this policy brief, co-published by the Policy Center for the New South and the Rihla Initiative for Green Economic Growth, Mehran Haghirian examines how disruption in the Strait of Hormuz extends far beyond the Gulf, affecting energy markets, food and fertilizer supply chains, transport, tourism, and investment across multiple regions. He argues that the crisis has exposed the scale of global dependence on the Strait and the need for stronger regional and international resilience.

Across the network, alumni continued to publish, receive professional recognition, take on new responsibilities, and connect through international forums.

Publications & Features

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Joana Ama Osei-Tutu (ADEL 2017) co-authored the article "From Conflict to Continuum: Ending Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls in Sudan." The piece examines conflict-related sexual violence through the continuum of violence, arguing that prevention also requires addressing the structural inequalities and everyday forms of gender-based violence that create conditions in which conflict-related violence can emerge.

Featured in the April–May edition of Msafiri, Kenya Airways' in-flight magazine, Vicky Ngari (ADEL 2017) reflects on her work at the intersection of African heritage, cultural identity, and creative industries. In the feature, "Vicky Ngari's Vision for Africa's Creative Economy," she discusses how cultural artefacts can be recognized as sources of intellectual, cultural, and economic value.

In the Brookings article "Can Critical Minerals Drive Africa's Transformation?", Landry Signé (ADEL 2013 and Senior Fellow at PCNS) examines how African countries can leverage growing global demand for critical minerals to advance industrialization, innovation, regional integration, and long-term economic transformation. He argues that the continent's greatest opportunity lies not only in exporting raw materials but also in creating greater value through strategic investment and industrial development.

In the policy brief "Money Can't Stay on the Sidelines: A Long-Term Investment Product for the EU and Its Citizens," Michael Leibeck (ADEL 2015) proposes a new EU long-term investment product designed to encourage greater retail participation in capital markets. Published by the Jacques Delors Centre, the proposal seeks to channel household savings toward productive and sustainable investment while maintaining investor protection, accessibility, cost efficiency, and global risk diversification.

Appointments & Recognition

Andrea Richter-Garry (ADEL 2015) was appointed President and CEO of Indy Economic Development, where she will contribute to advancing economic growth, investment, and innovation.

Pedro Francisco Vormittag (ADEL 2023) received the Order of Rio Branco from Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Itamaraty. The distinction recognizes individuals whose work has contributed to Brazil’s international relations and diplomatic engagement.

Prince Boadu (ADEL 2015) joined Microsoft as Critical Environment Program Manager – Business Operations, where he will support the infrastructure and operations behind one of the world's largest cloud platforms.

Alexander Parsalidis (ADEL 2024) was included in The Peak’s 2026 Emerging Leaders list in the Government category. The selection recognizes Canadians working across government, business, and civil society, with Alexander featured for his work in public service and trade policy.

Community Connections

Patricia Ahanda (2018) and Amandla Ndisi (2024) met during the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Forum 2026 in Paris, following their meeting in Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi, India, reflecting the connections that continue to develop across ADEL cohorts and international professional spaces.
