6 years ago, in a discussion between Rachid El Houdaigui and Karim El Aynaoui, the idea of a conference on peace and security in Africa emerged. Why? Because of the need for an intellectual framework for African researchers and decision-makers to exchange and discuss regularly on the issues of peace and security of the continent.
6 years later, the APSACO conference brought together more than 700 researchers, decision-makers and civil society members during the previous 5 editions which focused on the African Union in 2017, Peacekeeping Operations in 2018, Africa's Place and Influence in 2019, COVID-19 and Security in 2020, Women, Peace, and Security in 2021. For its 6th edition this year, APSACO will gather more than 200 people to address the issue of African security in times of uncertainties.
