As Morocco observes International Education Day, we must confront an uncomfortable truth: education in our country is far from the transformative force it should be. While progress has been made, systemic challenges—linguistic divides, unequal access, and the burden of household responsibilities—persist, disproportionately impacting students with special needs and those from marginalized backgrounds.

At the Policy Center for the New South, we use this occasion to reflect on these issues, offering data-driven insights and policy recommendations to build an education system that empowers every Moroccan child. Transformation begins with asking hard questions.
